Benefits of Apex Taekwondo Center
Are you looking for a way to train the whole person in your child? Here at Apex, we believe the martial art of Taekwondo can be a gateway to learning many important life-skills and character traits all while having fun!
Whatever the age or skill level of your child, there is something for everyone at Apex Taekwondo Center. Check out our programs tailored to meet your specific needs. These classes offer a high-energy outlet for kids through games and activities, all while teaching important life-skills. They will learn about the sport and art of Taekwondo, and grow in their motor skills, confidence, and perseverance as they face daily challenges.
Your child will learn character traits such as courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and an indomitable spirit that they can take with them and apply throughout their life. They will also grow physically through honing gross motor skills and staying active in body and mind. And lastly, they will learn the honor, patience, and perseverance that come through studying the martial art of Taekwondo.
We believe any field of endeavor a child pursues will be enhanced by the lessons learned through Taekwondo. From the passion of our experienced Master instructors to our state-of-the-art facility, we seek to cultivate and grow our students to their maximum potential.
Our headquarters is located in an accessible, friendly area in Fishers, Indiana. Our Master instructor, Stephen McEwan, has laid out a tried and tested lesson plan for helping students learn safely and effectively. This includes careful instruction, drill, assessment, and competition. He is careful to focus on both mastery of skills and the introduction of new techniques to keep his classes engaging, challenging, and rewarding. Whatever level of skill or interest a child begins with, we believe they will enjoy growing through our range of custom-tailored classes.
Feel free to look around, read lessons from our 5th Degree Black Belt instructor on the blog, check out our students in action at the gallery, and let us know if you have any questions. We are here to help, and are excited to train the next generation of students an important and varied set of life skills through the art of Taekwondo.

Master Stephen is amazing with my 3.5 year old. He has a perfect balance of structure and kindness, and goes out of his way to make classes both educational and fun. He offers parent's nights out and parties for holidays and birthdays. I can't recommend him enough.
Master Stephen is an amazing instructor. He has great passion in martial arts and cares a great deal for his students. He works well with kids of all ages and communicates well with parents. Our boys enjoy his classes. He develop them both mentally and physically through his teachings.
Stephen McEwan is one of the best TKD teachers I've met (I've been doing TKD with a variety of schools and instructors since 1989), with broad and extensive knowledge in all aspects. He is a fantastic instructor, and great with both young kids and older students, including adults. Highly motivated and dependable, able to inspire his students to strive for excellence.
My son loves it! The grasshopper program really helps the young kids with listening skills, physical activities, and life ethics/morals every month. Promotion testing is an awesome experience for the kids. My son was promoted and he is pumped to go for his orange stripe next. Can’t wait!
My 3.5 year old just started in the Grasshoppers program after showing an interest in martial arts and Master Stephen is excellent with him. My son is full of energy and Master Stephen is great at bringing back his focus and incorporating his interests into the lessons. After an intro and only two actual classes, I can already see my son's focus improving and am excited about the positive things that will come from Taekwondo with someone who has the patience to work through the young child excitement!
With options from very young children to those of us still young at heart, Master Stephen meets his students where they are and helps them learn both life skills as well as Taekwondo. He cares about our well-being and encourages us to "do OUR best, not our neighbour's best". We take lessons here as a family and look forward to continuing on our journey.
